Ruth Gierten, Violin
As the co-founder of the string quartet “Kubus Quartet”, and as a member of several orchestras, Ruth Gierten performs a wide repertoire of classical and contemporary music across Europe, in China and the United States.
Important steps in Ruth’s career include the creation of the “Kubus Quartet” in 2014 and numerous performances with the quartet in renowned concert halls; the “akademist” award for first violin in the Hessisches Staatsorchester Wiesbaden in 2014; concertmaster and member of the Landes-Jugendorchester Rheinland-Pfalz; as well as numerous engagements and experiences including with the Philharmonisches Orchester Heidelberg, the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra, the Zermatt Festival Academy, and the Cuban-European Youth Academy.
Born in Mainz, Germany, Ruth Gierten studied violin with Prof. Tanja Becker-Bender in Saarbrücken and Hamburg and with Prof. Sebastian Hamann in Luzern and Freiburg. She graduated in 2013 with distinction from the Bachelor of Arts at the Hochschule Luzern Musik and in 2016 from the Master of Music at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg. She also studied baroque violin with Brian Dean, Prof. Petra Müllejans.
Musical impulses at different stages of her career came from Prof. Christoph Schickedanz, Prof. Igor Ozim, Prof. Isabell van Keulen, Prof. Schmuel Aschkenasi, Prof. Eberhard Feltz, Prof. Roman Nodel, und Ton Koopman, and, in the context of the Ensemble Akademie Freiburg from members of the Ensemble Recherche and the Freiburger Barockorchester.
